The legendary high-grass ride-on mower with all-wheel drive
The AS 940 Sherpa 4WD is equipped with either a slope-capable engine from B&S or Loncin. Both with oil and petrol pumps. The permanent all-wheel drive not only provides excellent traction but also ensures safety, especially on slopes: uphill it provides better traction, downhill it provides stronger, safer braking. For even more traction, the differential lock can be locked at any time using the foot pedal. The drive is via a hydrostatic drive that is controlled exclusively via the drive lever.
The special thing here:
The drive lever has four functions. The forward and reverse movements, the brake and the parking brake are controlled via the drive lever. The AS 940 Sherpa 4WD is also equipped with an emergency brake pedal on the right-hand side. If this is operated, the drive lever returns to the middle position and the parking brake is automatically applied. The professional 2-cylinder Loncin engine with its 708 cm3 delivers a rated output of 21.2 hp. Enough power even for heavy-duty applications. The mower deck of the AS 940 Sherpa 4WD has a cutting width of 90 cm, is closed at the sides and suspended in a surfing manner. It is equipped with the special AS cross-blade system. The main blade bar with freely swinging reversible blades cuts the clippings, while the mulching blade above it shreds and chops them. Area performance of up to 5,500 m² per hour and growth heights of up to 1.50 m in grass and undergrowth are possible. The cuttings are ejected from the middle and to the rear between the wheels on the AS 940 Sherpa 4WD. This prevents the mulch layer from becoming stuck under the rear wheels and guarantees maximum traction without the risk of slipping, especially on slopes and in wet conditions.
A mulching kit can be optionally installed to achieve an even finer mulching result in low and medium growth. The advantage of the surfing suspension of the mower deck is that it can move upwards when it comes into contact with the ground, for example when driving over hills or bumps. This protects the turf and the blades from damage. The cutting height adjustment is central, spring-supported and can be set in five steps between 50 and 105 mm.

| Maximum seating comfort and safety
The ergonomic sitting position enables comfortable working. The bucket seat, which can be adjusted in length, allows people up to 1.90 m tall to sit comfortably. In addition, the spring hardness of the seat spring package can be individually adjusted to suit each owner. Sitting “in” the machine in combination with the side branch deflectors offers the operator protection and safety. A key feature of the design of the AS 940 Sherpa 4WD is the low center of gravity of the machine for high tipping safety. The stability and robustness of the machine comes from a robust, all-round tubular steel frame. This gives the ride-on mower high stability and torsional rigidity even under tough working conditions. Lashing points are integrated into the frame for comfortable transport. The foldable bar provides additional protection for the user. With its separate supply and exhaust air ducts, the AS 940 Sherpa 4WD is made for continuous use. For this purpose, the cooling air ducts for the engine and hydrostatic drive are separated from each other. The engine draws in its cooling air from above and releases the warm exhaust air to the side. The hydrostatic drive draws in its cooling air from behind and releases the warm exhaust air downwards. This system protects the ride-on mower from overheating even at high ambient temperatures and under maximum load, which contributes to a long service life of the components. |
The AS-Motor all-wheel ride-on mowers in a new design
The all-wheel drive models of the Sherpa family will appear in a new splendor in the future. Visually, the new Sherpa 4WD models 2023 are even more attractive with a new paint finish, an additional front panel and the newly designed stickers. But the new AS Sherpa 4WD high grass mowers also offer a number of technical innovations.
All all-wheel drive AS-Motor Sherpa models 2023 will in future be fitted with the Flatfoot Stop tire sealant as standard – downtime due to flat tires is now a thing of the past. The Sherpas’ new fuel tank offers more volume (17 liters), a larger tank opening and a standard level indicator. The new locking mechanism of the folding bracket makes it easier to handle and makes the bracket less susceptible to damage. In addition, freedom of movement when operating the drive lever is improved. In the future, the protective cloth between the engine and the seat will no longer be laboriously riveted, but locked using robust magnets. Access to the engine, for example when changing the oil, will be significantly improved.
